2002 Yarra Valley Geelong Pinot Noir
Our growers in Diamond Valley, Woori Yallock and Geelong produced excellent fruit for us again. As a result, we have another complex Pinot Noir with a bit of attitude. The Geelong component gives the wine structure, whereas the Yarra Valley parcels provide the lovely cherry fruit that is the Yarra’s hallmark.
Dark red. Black cherries, mocha and violets on the nose. Fruity mid-palate followed by tannin brushing the roof of the mouth and squeezing the gums. The flavours are of cherry fruits, dark chocolate and red meat with some charry oak. The finish is long. Loves air, so should be decanted. Drinking really well now, but will develop further complexity with 4 or 5 years bottle age. Brilliant with duck, especially the way the Chinese do it, and can handle some spice (eg red duck curry).
